How My Story Will Benefit Your Organization
Based in the United Kingdom since 2018, in the 1980’s I began my activist career in London's feminist third sector, whilst also maintaining a business career in Chicago as an accountant and at times a human resources executive. I have remained fully engaged with several women’s organizations in the United Kingdom over a nearly forty year period traveling to London three to four times a year. The outcome being, garnering a nuanced understanding of the relational dynamics between the UK’s internal national security model and some UK NGO’s. In addition, my engagement with the feminist third sector in the United Kingdom has kept me abreast of societal challenges in the United Kingdom.
Since the early 2000's I have been an independent and volunteer researcher of the United Kingdom's internal national security model, hereafter known as the "the Model", as led by Counter Terrorism Policing out of the Metropolitan Police (SO15) and the Security Service (MI5). My focus is both how the the Model is understood by various sectors in the UK, and to garner a better understanding of the Model's utilization of Institutional Memory (Institutional History) influences their Adaptability, Functionality and Resilience. My interest in the United Kingdom's national security model is the result of living in Dundalk in Ireland at the very end of the "Troubles."
My additional research interests include the analysis of the formation of 'militarized' narratives that fuel the performance of a weaponized self (identity).
Based in Chicago I traveled to London three to four times a year. Whilst in London I interviewed supporters and members of proscribed groups, some members of foreign diplomatic teams, Civil Society organizations, and those best described as the general public .
From my regular travels to the United Kingdom, I produced research papers analyzing the publics understanding of the UK's internal national security model from several perspective. The papers where where then submitted to the SO15 officer who interviewed me for thirty minutes upon my arrival at Heathrow Airport.
I am a published writer. My work has appeared in American, British and Australian publications. I have a podcast on YouTube where I analyze internal national security models, my focus is primarily the UK. In 2012 I expanded my scope to include the internal national security models of Canada Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and in Israel my focus was the Shin Bet (Shabak) and Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

(Areas of Research Work and Engagement)
My lived experiences of the paramilitary group, the Provisional IRA's change in their positioning, responses and identity to that of a political party, as it manifested in Dundalk, County Louth Ireland, has been the impetus for my self-initiated volunteer national security research in London.
As change is never a linear journey, the paramilitary group had to contend with how communities in Dundalk and beyond understood who and what they now attested to as their new identity, and how that reconciled with their identity as a paramilitary group. And my experiences in Dundalk also include the then PIRA, the Garda Síochána, and MI5 working in tandem to provide safe passage for me from Dundalk to Dublin when some erroneously thought I worked for the British government.
Once back in Chicago, I found myself fixated on the PIRA's continued journey toward a political identity. That interest led to me respectfully commenting online to their choice of words that in my opinion reflected an identity they sought to discarded.
Already, a frequent traveler to London, I found my lived experiences in Dundalk to also be the catalyst for researching the UK's internal national security model .As the UK's participation in the invasion of Iraq led to an uptick in terrorism as a response by some in the country to UK'S military involvement in Iraq.
Resuming my travels to the United Kingdom. I traveled to London three to four times a year where I researched how the internal national security model in London led by SO15 and MI5 responded to the increase in radicalization of some some British nationals. And I sought to garner an understanding of both the adaptability and resilience of the UK's internal national security model.
In my volunteer role I interviewed a wide array of British nationals on their understanding and experiences of the UK's internal national security model. This included British Muslims on how they understood and/or experienced the the model. I also interviewed members and supporters of proscribed groups, foreign intelligence officers based in London embassies, and civil society's organizations focused on national security. I then submitted my unsolicited work to initially the Home Secretary, and eventually to the SO15 officer who interviewed me upon arrival in the United Kingdom at Heathrow Airport.
In more recent years I have also researched the internal national security models in Canada (CSIS ) and in Israel's Shin Bet (Shabak).
